Academic Background:
Daphna Canetti is a Professor at the School of Political Science, the University of Haifa, where she serves as Dean of the Herta and Paul Amir Faculty of Social Sciences and Head of the Political Psychology Lab. She earned her PhD at the University of Haifa. She was a Fulbright Fellow at the University of Notre Dame and a Rice Family Foundation Visiting Professor at Yale University. Her academic leadership and scholarship have been recognized with major competitive grants (over $3M), editorial-board service at top journals, and international disciplinary awards.

Research Interests:
At the Political Psychology Lab, we investigate the micro-foundations of political behavior under conditions of war, terrorism, and political violence. Our research examines how exposure to political violence, terrorism, and hybrid threats – including cyber conflict, shapes political attitudes and behavior, with particular attention to conflict-exposed populations and decision-making under threat. We focus on emotional, cognitive, and neurobiological processes such as threat perception, stress, and moral judgment, and how these mechanisms influence political trust, democratic resilience, policy preferences, and political action. Methodologically, we combine survey and field experiments with immersive virtual reality designs, physiological measures (including cortisol), and emerging neuroimaging approaches (including fMRI), supported by interdisciplinary collaborations that integrate bio-political and neuroscientific perspectives.
