Academic Background:
I did my BSc and MSc (direct track) at the school of Electrical engineering, Tel-Aviv University. My PhD at the Department of brain sciences, Weizmann Institute, was under the supervision of Prof. Ehud Ahissar and Prof. Elad Schneidman. In My PhD I studied how active sensing is used for gathering spatial information about the proximal environment. I used the rat whisker system as a model. My Post-doctoral studies at the Princeton University, under the supervision of Prof. Mala Murthy, were focused on understanding the neural basis of social communication, using the vinegar fly Drosophila melanogaster as a model system. I opened my own lab at the University of Haifa in 2022.
Research Interests:
My lab’s goal os to reveal how neural circuits implement the computations needed for social communication. We aim to understand how multisensory signals are integrated with changing internal needs to drive adaptive and dynamics social decisions. To this aim we use a mix of experimental and theoretical approaches, including behavioral quantification of social behaviors following environmental and neural perturbations, brain imaging using two-photon microscopy and neural circuits using the fly connectome.
